Here's a man who loves his work. Each lens blank is rough and fine ground, edged and beveled automatically on the Opticam. The machine is very precise, but it takes a skilled person to set up the operation. Once set up, the lenses come off the machine with very accurate surfaces, ready for polishing.
Gunter is testing a center element surface against a test plate. He is polishing all surfaces and matching them to a known curve. All 6 surfaces have to match within a very tight tolerance before the lens is ready for final figuring.
