If you would rather not make your solar filter, you may prefer to purchase a ready-made filter. Kendrick Astro Instruments anticipated this need and has an economical solution! Please use the following chart to determine which is the proper filter for your telescope. Filters are available with either the Density 5 - Visual or Density 3.8 - Photographic material. The "V" or "P" at the end of our part numbers respectively designates whether the filter is for visual or photographic use. |

You may attach a Kendrick solar filter directly onto the lens cell of several of our telescopes. Be aware that a different filter may be required for this arrangement as outer diameters of the dew shield and lens cell may differ. The chart below includes only those scopes from the previous table that can attach a filter in this manner. Please note that not all of our older telescopes are listed on these charts! |
AP Telescope | Lens Cell O.D. | Visual Filter Part # | Photo Filter Part # | |
172mm | KSF11V | KSF11P | |
224mm | KSF13V | KSF13P | |
298mm | KSF16V | KSF16P |
If you prefer the original filter cell with the full aluminum ring, the following list indicates which of this style filter we still have in stock. If you need a different size filter, please call our office to inquire about the availability of your specific diameter. | ![]() |
