Roland and Marj Christen at NEAF 2007 with the 130mm f6.3 StarFire EDF, Mach1GTO Mount and EAGLE6 Pier.
Astro-Physics introduced the prototype of this new triplet
apochromatic refractor at the Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF) on April 28,
2007.
The new compact, lightweight tube assembly can be disassembled into three parts
to fit into your carry-on luggage. We have also incorporated a rotating focuser
collar that will enable you to frame your photos for optimal, artistic composition.
Our dedicated 2.7” Prime Focus Field Flattener (67PF56) will provide pinpoint
images across the field.
The triplet lens is the same extraordinary quality that you have come to expect
from Astro-Physics. It will feature the latest multi-coating technology that
we have used for our 160mm and 140mm StarFires in recent years.
As of this writing in April 2008, production is well underway with the first
deliveries expected in May or June. Since we anticipate that this will be a
very popular instrument, we have also scheduled the glass deliveries for the
second production run, which we will start later this year.
We plan to offer these instruments to people on our 130 f6 notification list. Please refer to our availability page for more information on our notification lists and backorder history. To get on the 130 StarFire EDF Notification List, please use our Online Notification Request Form.
The Mach1GTO or 900GTO German Equatorial mounts are recommended for astrophotography, depending on your requirements for portability and the amount of wind you are likely to encounter at your photographic site.
