The newly reimagined Astro-Physics Tri-Pier is our new support system enhanced to add support for mid- and large-sized observatory-class mounts (including 1100GTO, 1150GTO, and 1600GTO). More than just a support system; it is a modern, high-capacity masterpiece designed for the serious astro-photographer. This one-piece, "go-anywhere" assembly combines the rock-solid stability of a permanent pier with the rapid deployment of a portable tripod. Whether you are chasing dark skies or perfecting your backyard observatory, the Tri-Pier delivers a sophisticated, tool-free experience that simplifies portability and setup.

Unmatched Versatility & Field Flexibility

Setting up your dream rig should never be a chore. These features will enhance your observing and imaging sessions:

• Large, ergonomic hand knobs. Ensures your entire setup and adjustment process remains completely tool-free.
• Level on uneven ground. Need to compensate for rugged, uneven terrain? Simply loosen the three Leg Adjustment Knobs to articulate the feet and fine-tune the central column level. By adjusting the leg spread relative to the center, you can dial in the perfect height and achieve a level base even on sloped ground. 
• Spikes, stakes or flat contact surface. Easily switch from hard flat to softer ground with the included stainless-steel machined spikes. Remove the spikes from their storage position at the base of the legs and thread them into the flat surface. For extra measure and security, insert stakes (you provide) through the hole at the base of the legs. Refer to the photos above.
• Secure pier post to the ground with optional eyebolt. Install 1/2" 13 eyebolt you provide to the base of the pier and lash it down. Refer to the photo above. 
• Run cable through pier. Remove the grommet (shown in the photo above) and run your cables through the base of the pier post and up through the opening. Refer to the photos above. 
• Carrying handle. The built-in handle is out of the way, but available to aid your transport. 
• Velcro strap. Keep the legs in place when you store or carry the tri-pier.
• Additional height with 6” Extension (TRIPIER8-E6). The optional extension is useful for increased height when observing with longer refractors or targets at higher altitudes. When the extension is not used, store it on the bottom of the column, saving space and bulk. Plus you won't forget it when you pack your car to head to your favorite dark-sky site.

The first production of this new Tri-Pier is being assembled and started to ship.  We are presently notifying people who signed up.  Unfortunately, there are not enough tri-piers for everyone who signed up.
